About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Plant Operator / Cylinder Filler / Retester to join our clients Depot team. This is an ongoing position where you will play a vital role in the filling, testing, and maintenance of L.P. Gas Cylinders, ensuring that safety and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate plant equipment and forklift (once appropriate training and licensing are obtained).
- Check scales daily for accuracy to ensure correct filling of cylinders.
- Assess cylinders for suitability before filling; separate unsuitable or out-of-test cylinders.
- Degas and retest cylinders according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Clean cylinders in preparation for painting and/or filling.
- Fill cylinders and store them in designated areas.
- Paint and stencil cylinders as required.
- Assist drivers with loading and unloading cylinders as needed.
- Report any faults or defects to the Leading Hand or Depot Manager.
- Adhere to all established Elgas Policies and Procedures.
- Always be mindful of environmental impact and plant safety.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Leading Hand and/or Depot Manager.
Skills and Experience:
- Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain after training).
- Previous experience in plant operations, cylinder filling, or customer service roles is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
